Fernando Luis Alvarez is a Colombian-American entrepreneur, collector, and art curator. He was born in Greenwich, CT, and raised in Medellín, Colombia. With a passion for art and business, he studied in London, where he began his professional career. In 1997, he founded Alvarez & Partners, focusing on technology startups. He later shifted his focus to art, founding Greenwich Soho Factory in 2008 and the Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery in Stamford, CT, in 2009, with the aim of supporting emerging artists and promoting social justice. The gallery is known for its unique exhibitions and activism, as well as its collaboration with institutions such as the Louvre Museum, where he represents Joseph Kosuth’s exhibition “Ni Appearance ni Illusion.” In 2022, he opened Kudos Shed, an extension of the Kudos Curators platform, offering an in-person immersive experience with a focused curatorial concept. Alvarez is also the founder of the Clementina Arts Foundation, The Spoon Movement, The Curtain Movement, and the Hug For Unity movement, and he serves as vice-chair of The Global Recovery Movement.
Throughout his career, he has been a strong advocate for the art community and social causes.
